Tourism Jasper has cancelled Venture Beyond: Jasper's Open Air Concert Series, which would have taken place on the CN Place stage in Commemoration Park on Sept. 25.
This comes in light of recent announcements from the provincial government.
"The original motivation for hosting the concert was to celebrate the resilience of Jasperites in working through the pandemic and show our gratitude for everyone's contribution," said James Jackson, president and CEO of Tourism Jasper, in a statement.
"But just because we can technically host this event together does not mean that we should鈥攅specially given the considerable pressure on Alberta's healthcare system.
"So, although we feel a great sense of appreciation for our community, we want to prioritize safety above all else. Therefore, we will plan to host a celebration in the future when the time is right."
This would have been the inaugural year of the concert series.
