Residents at Pine Grove Senior Citizens Manor are among those who are still waiting to receive their COVID vaccination.

Seniors at Pine Grove Manor fit the same criteria as the general public for vaccinations, said Kristen Chambers, CAO of the Evergreen Foundation.

Pine Grove Manor (PGM) is managed by the Evergreens Foundation but is in the category of independent seniors housing, she said. Due to this, the seniors at PGM are seen in the same lens as the other seniors living independently in Jasper when it comes to vaccination roll outs.

Chambers explained that means seniors at the 32-unit facility will be vaccinated along with criteria set out for the general public for Phase 2.

All seniors at Alpine Summit were vaccinated early on due to having the DSL wing within the facility, she said. Those seniors will be having their second dose this weekend (Jan. 30-31).

Chambers added, Our other seniors lodges in communities like Hinton and Evansburg where no contract for higher level of care is in place, have not been contacted regarding vaccinations at this time and are also awaiting the public roll out.
