Pursuit is opening its at-cost meal program to the Jasper community.
The companys food and beverage team has been feeding its staff in Jasper and Banff with the Easy Eats program for the past few weeks and it is now being opened up to the public.
Easy Eats sees pre-cooked dinners available every Friday at direct-cost pricing with extra donations going towards meals for Jasper Food Bank.
We always had the intention to roll this out to the wider community but wanted to make sure what we were producing was great and that we had everything locked down in terms of being able to provide to the community, said Richard Cooper, general manager of food and beverage for Pursuit in Jasper.
We are super encouraged that everyone we have seen comes back on the opening days, some picking up one meal, some three or four to last them a couple of days.
Easy Eats offers large meals for one to four people like herb roasted chicken for $3.50 per person and pulled pork and cabbage with a bun for $3 per person. Side orders like mashed potatoes, quinoa, carrots and vegetable medleys are available for $2 per person.
There are also desserts and small plates like chilli, raviolo and gnocchi for $1 to $4.
Food is pre-cooked and sealed into vac bags to be boiled from 5 to 15 minutes at home.
The process is so simple to make this product but takes away the stress of having to produce a hearty meal for the family, said Cooper.
The manager said the program is a community proposal, rather than a business opportunity with all items priced at cost price to make meals extremely affordable.
Families and individuals, everyone is going through a number of stresses and unknowns and we wanted to create something that could relieve some of those unknowns, said Cooper.
Its priced to be affordable for anyone and if anyone has the capacity to donate a little more we produce extra meals to be distributed to people who need it.
Meals are available for collection from the doors of Chateau Jasper on Fridays between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are distancing markers and only debit and credit payments are accepted.
