Second COVID-19 case confirmed in Jasper

Jasper now has two confirmed cases of COVID-19. This afternoon (Sunday, March 22) 33 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Alberta, bringing the total 259. The province suspects up to 19 of the total cases were due to community transmission.

This afternoon (Sunday, March 22) 33 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Alberta, bringing the total 259. 

The province suspects up to 19 of the total cases were due to community transmission. 

Eighteen people are in hospital, an increase of seven, six are in Intensive Care Units, an increase of one, and there have been no further deaths in Alberta, leaving the total at one.

The number of confirmed recovered cases remains at three. A longer-term process for determining timely reporting of recovered cases is underway.

The shows that one of the the new cases announced is in Jasper.

For patient privacy and confidentially reasons, Alberta Health Services will not release any further details about the Jasper cases, like if they travel-related or community spread.

There are still no reported cases in the areas around Jasper like Hinton, Banff and Grande Cache. The closest are in Canmore, where there are two confirmed cases, and the outskirts of Edmonton.
