In recognition of Seniors’ Week, June 1-7, Community Outreach Services organized a cavalcade of emergency vehicles that wound its way around town and past Jasper’s two seniors’ residences on June 1.

The community was invited to come outside, bang pots and pans, play musical instruments and show their gratitude to Jasper’s seniors that afternoon.

Folks were also encouraged to decorate their sidewalks and windows with pictures and words of love for our seniors.

These activities were an opportunity for Jasperites to recognize the contributions that seniors have made, and continue to make, to the life and vibrancy of our community.

Members of Jasper’s Youth Community Helpers, led by Teen Outreach Worker Anna DeClercq, took part in the parade.
Donny the Dino (a.k.a. Sanne van der Ros) and ‘The Head’ (powered by Kumi Yamamoto
behind the sign), joined staff and residents at the Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge including
Ornesto Tassoni, facility operations manager, Agnes Hisey, George Mattison, Heinz Calsen, Gail Leong, Nelda Wright, Patti Lanigan, recreational therapist, Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Delores Chorley.
Lincoln Richards offers ‘The Head’, with Kumi Yamamoto, a tasty treat just before the parade wound its way by the Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge.
Kumi Yamamoto, with ‘The Head’ enjoyed a parade in honour of Jasper seniors on June 1.
