Seniors in Jasper will have a chance to buy groceries before the masses tomorrow morning.
TGP is launching a special seniors’ shopping hour, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. to give the elderly a head start on their shopping. Everyone else will be let in at 9 a.m.
“We are a small community, everybody looks after each other - we have to,” said store manager Rick Lagace.
“It’s going to be tough for a while but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do.”
TGP’s shelves have been constantly restocked over the last week, with shoppers stocking up and panic-buying some items like toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Lagace has had to put purchase limits on these, plus food like eggs, milk and meat, to make sure there’s enough to go around.
Because while the grocery store usually gets three deliveries a week, problems in the supply chain mean there have been delays.
“Everybody’s scrambling around, that’s why they’re so far behind,” said Lagace.
“We came in on Tuesday and closed the store just to fill the shelves.
“A truck was supposed to be here last night but cancelled until 2 p.m. today.”
And that means people have been waiting outside the store to get in for groceries. Lagace said he has seen the line-up reach Tim Hortons.
“I’ve never seen anything like this - and I’ve been in management for a long time,” said Lagace.
“This is unheard of and it’s going to get worse instead of better.”
TGP now has a limit of ten customers in the store at any time and is launching home delivery from March 21. There will be a minimum spend of $100 plus a delivery. Call 780-852-3200 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon to order.
