Six candidates will run in the Yellowhead riding, which includes the town of Jasper, during the federal election on Sept. 20.

The list of confirmed candidates are as follows (by last name alphabetically):

  • Gordon Francey – Veterans Coalition Party of Canada
  • Michael Manchen – People’s Party of Canada
  • Todd Muir – Maverick Party
  • Guillaume Roy – New Democratic Party
  • Sheila Schumacher – Liberal Party of Canada
  • Gerald Soroka (incumbent) – Conservative Party of Canada

The last day for nominations was Aug. 31, and the list of confirmed candidates was issued the following day on Sept. 1.

Yellowhead, a large riding that stretches as far as Grande Cache, Rocky Mountain House and Caroline, has been a Conservative riding for 19 years.

The seat was held by Conservative MP Jim Eglinski from 2014, but he did not seek re-election in the 2019 federal election.

Soroka campaigned across the riding in 2019 and won 82 per cent of the Yellowhead vote.

Those who are registered should receive a voter information card in the mail by Sept. 10.
