Mountain Air owner Karen Jacobs has been in Jasper for almost 25 years.
Karen came out for a fun summer working with her sisters, and never left.
She found her husband Jeff Andrews here and they have two boys Finn and Fraser.
Karen was destined to be her own boss.
Nine years ago she had the opportunity to buy the store she worked in since the day she arrived, so she bought Mountain Air.
"I love the store. It is an experience these days to shop in person, to have people help you, and suggest ideas. It is becoming a rare thing,鈥� says Jacobs.
Mountain Air offers the clothes you need for everyday life, quality pieces that you will keep in your closet for years because they are classics and wear well.
Karen and her staff offer you honest advice and create a positive experience, ensuring that when you leave the store, you love what you have bought.
"If you don't love it, we won鈥檛 let you buy it,鈥� says Jacobs.
Locals are a really important part of Mountain Air鈥檚 business, and they try to stock the things that you need like socks, underwear, a good pair of shoes for your new job, or something a bit dressier for that rare occasion.
The store is a Jasper Institution, offering a local鈥檚 discount and maintaining suggested retail pricing, ensuring customers get a better deal than they would in the bigger, city stores.
Curating the perfect selection is part of Karen鈥檚 passion.
鈥淚 love the fashion and the flow 鈥� it changes every season. It鈥檚 exciting to offer pretty much everything you need in one shop,鈥� said Jacobs.
"We always have sweaters. Where we live, you need them, even in July.鈥�
Mountain Air seeks out unique brands, and is always trying to support Canadian design, things that won鈥檛 be the same as everyone down the street.
And, if Karen can鈥檛 help a customer she will always refer you to a local who business who can.
