Hello Jasper Bearcat fans, and Happy New Year! I'd like to catch you up on a few games that the U15 team has played in the last month, as I've been unable to write about them until now.

Back in December, the Bearcats played three home games and they won two of the three. Then most recently, they travelled to Hinton for their first game of 2022.

Firstly, Jasper welcomed the CR Knights into their home. This game was a close match in the first period with Morgan Thomas netting one early in the period, Carson Campbell and Jackson Irwin with the helpers. Followed by an almost immediate response by the Knights with a goal of their own. Netminder Brady Campbell kept the door shut for the rest of the game, facing 40 shots, while Thomas put three more on the board with some help from Drew Kovacs and Louis Campeau, making the final 4-1 for Jasper.

Next up, the Jasper Bearcats hosted the Mayerthorpe Mustangs. Kovacs got this game off to a good start for Jasper with some help from Campbell and Irwin, scoring the only goal of the first period. Unfortunately, the second period didn't go so well with the Mustangs scoring four unanswered goals. Mayerthorpe opened up the scoring in the third period as well, answered by Casey Peel, netting Jasper's second goal of the game, resulting in a 5-2 loss.

Jasper's third game of December and final game of 2021 was at home against Drayton Valley. The Bearcats decided to go out with a bang, winning this one 7-1. Thomas scored a pair of goals, and Kovacs got a hat-trick. While Campbell and Peel each had a goal as well.

Moving into the New Year, Jasper is headed to Hinton the Friday before last for their first game of the year. This game started on the right skate when Campbell found the back of the net off a pass from Irwin. But before the end of the first period, Hinton found the back of Jasper's net just the same. The second period got away from Jasper, with Hinton scoring three unanswered goals. Then Kovacs got the first goal of the third period with some help from Carson Miller, and Campbell. But Hinton finished the game off with one last goal, ending it 5-2.

The U15 Bearcats were supposed to play two road games this past weekend but had to cancel due to a few players testing positive for COVID-19, including the goalie. But they are looking forward to hosting Whitecourt at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, and at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23. Come on out and make some noise for your U15 Jasper Bearcats.
