Parks Canada is calling on Canadians to support the national effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 and stay home.

The Agency is temporarily suspending all motor vehicle access by visitors at all national parks, national historic sites, and national marine conservation areas effective 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, until further notice.

In Jasper National Park, this means:

  • The gate to Lake Annette and Lake Edith day-use areas is now closed
  • Parking lots, washrooms, day-use facilities, visitor centres, and all camping facilities are not available until further notice
  • Parking is not allowed on highways and roadways in the park

Highway 16, the Yellowhead Highway and Highway 93, the Icefields Parkway remain open to through traffic. Commercial traffic is still permitted on Highway 16.

"These actions are consistent with the united direction from all levels of government calling on Canadians to stay home and stay safe," said a Jasper National Park spokesperson in a statement.

"We appreciate the public's support of these initiatives designed to limit exposure and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19.

"We look forward to sharing Jasper National Park with you again, just not right now."
