Young theatrical talents will soon hit a screen near you - and all for a good cause.

Nine young actors have been working on Jasper Kids in Isolation Monologues, a collection of short comedic skits hosted by Ryan Davis, to raise for Jasper Food Bank.

The children are being directed by Lena Fraser, who is working with them each through video chat a few times a week, playing theatre games, getting them comfortable, and helping to develop their characters.

These young kids ability to buckle down and memorize these skits in a short period of time and put so much of their own creative spin on their characters has been so fun to watch, she said.

Sophie OMahoney, 11, said it has been fun working on her monologue virtually.

At first it felt weird but I have got used to it and it feels normal practising online now, she said.

I really like acting. Its a new way to express yourself and I like playing different characters.

I just like being part of something that will help raise money.

OMahoney is performing a skit about a cat lady who has 16 cats and finds another stray cat - but her husband doesnt want to keep it.

We got to pick our favourite and I chose this one because I related to it most, she said.

I am dressing up for it - I have a scarf around my head and little glasses and a poncho. Ive been practising a lot and we did a dress rehearsal, its really fun.

Ruby Olson is performing Kitten Apocalypse - a monologue about a teenager who finds alien goop and her cat eats it.

Its fun, she said. I like practising, I like doing the actions - I love how we made the alien space suit.

Olson said she felt good helping to raise money for a good cause.

The other young actors taking part are Matteo Artiaga, William Strugnal, Casey Peel, Molleigh McGrath, Alice Wannop, Vanessa Maskowitz and Emerson Gibbons.
