In the event of an emergency, do you feel that you would be vulnerable?
Well, no need to worry anymore. The Municipality of Jasper now has the Vulnerable Persons Registry (VPR).
The VPR has just started in Jasper and the idea stemmed from the Rural Municipality of Wood Buffalo that Jasper municipality adapted to work within the community.
The VPR provides a confidential service to people living in Jasper that are at a greater risk during an emergency situation.
Vulnerable Persons Registry is a voluntary service.
If the event of a large-scale emergency, the VPR provides information to local emergency services about the vulnerable locals throughout the community.
The VPR is available to only residents within the Jasper community and who have or experience the following:
- Mobility issues
- Visual or hearing impairments
- Challenges related to mental health
- Residents who require life-sustaining equipment
If you have round-the-clock care and are not left unassisted, then you do not qualify for VPR.
