Did you know …
- Jasper Municipal Library was established Nov. 12, 1942.
- The first location of the library was the basement of what is now the Parks Information building.
- The library operates under the Alberta Libraries Act and Libraries Regulation.
- Our board is made up of one municipal council member and six community members who applied and were selected by municipal council.
- All Jasper Municipal Library memberships are free. Adults need to bring in government-issued picture ID; if your ID does not include a local address, you’ll also need proof that you live or work in Jasper. Children will need to bring their parent or guardian with them.
- We have books, magazines, music CDs and movies in English and French.
- If you are looking for something we don’t have, you can order from another library through Interlibrary Loans.
- We have a local interest section where you can learn more about Jasper’s cultural and natural history or borrow a guidebook for your next adventure.
- We have magazines you can take out including Canada’s History, Sky & Telescope, Vogue Knitting and The Walrus.
- Our library catalogue TRACpac can be browsed at home or accessed through the TRACpac app, available for IOS and Android.
- You can use the TRACpac app to check out your items in the library. That means you can check out your books as you browse and skip the line at the circulation desk.
- Wi-Fi is available, as well as two public computers.
- We offer printing, photocopying, laminating and faxing services for a fee. Contact the library for details.
- We currently have 17,583 physical items in our collection.

- We have books in other languages such as Korean, Japanese, Greek, Italian and Spanish.
- We have a small book sale at the entrance of the library. Books are for sale by donation.
- We have games and puzzles available for people to play inside the library on those cold or rainy days.
- Your library membership gives you access to a variety of online resources, including curriculum support, language-learning resources, genealogy databases, magazines, newspapers, movies, music, and audiobook streaming services.
