Dear editor, Your editorial in the 51°µÍø on April 20, 2017 (A Glimmer of Dissent) reveals why public debate is essential when it comes to local government. Debate is when ideas are forced to compete in the public arena.

Police were forced to use a spike belt to stop an impaired driver after he fled from officers multiple times, April 20. Jasper RCMP officers pulled over a vehicle on Highway 16 for a speeding offence around 11:45 p.m.
