It can be easy to take the park鈥檚 trails for granted. There are, after all, 250 kilometres of multi-use trails winding through each corner of Jasper National Park and they seemingly take care of themselves.

When death is in the name, you know it鈥檚 going to be tough. But, this year, death was no match for Jasper鈥檚 resilient athletes鈥攏either was 24 Hours of Adrenalin or the Banff Marathon or the Sinister Seven in Crowsnest Pass.

There was a short moment on Friday morning where it appeared the public had succeeded in stopping the development of overnight accommodation at Maligne Lake. The news was Parks Canada had denied Maligne Tours Ltd.

A fed bear is a dead bear. It's a saying we've heard a million times, but鈥攜et again鈥攊t's been proven true in Jasper National Park.

As Green Party leader Elizabeth May stepped off the 鈥淕reen Train鈥澛爐hat took her through Jasper last weekend, she exchanged hugs with supporters and beamed with what seemed like a truly genuine smile.

Canada Day in Jasper is one of the busiest times of the year.The streets are jammed and businesses are packed as tourists and families wander through town taking in the festivities.

It is an unbelievably gorgeous, sunny afternoon.

June 25 Ski Marmot Basin held an open house in Jasper to show off the details of its long-range plan. Attendance was sparse, with Marmot representatives outnumbering curious Jasperites the whole night.

Despite a mishap that destroyed the town鈥檚 first order of bedding plants鈥�(the semi transporting them rolled over on the highway)鈥擩asper is nearly in full bloom.

It鈥檚 startling how much trash lines our highways. In fact, we could hardly believe it when the town鈥檚 Environmental Stewardship Coordinator said 2.89 tonnes of garbage was picked up during the annual litter cleanup, June 5.
