Using groundbreaking rapid testing devices and an innovative community-involved project, University of Alberta researchers are hoping to bend the curve of syphilis infections.

The proposed changes have met a chorus of disapproval from Alberta's municipalities.

Alberta's rural leaderships say they are being actively undermined by Bill 20, and vow to "not sit back and take it."

A spring storm has brought 25 centimetres of snow to the Maligne Lake area of Jasper National Park. An additional 20 to 25 centimetres is expected through the evening.

The municipality says all residential and local business parking permits for 2023 will be renewed automatically before May 1.

"While I think it鈥檚 very exciting and telling that the first six months of service we already have an external group wanting to add a route, I鈥檇 like to see a year and a full summer with the service first."

The changes proposed in Alberta's Bill 20 have already created an atmosphere of silence and fear among municipal leaders, and will "fundamentally redraw the blueprint of our local democracy" if implemented, says Alberta Municipalities President聽Tyler Gandam.

鈥淭he master plan also includes a cost-benefit analysis that will identify what elements of a passenger rail system should proceed and when,鈥� said Devin Dreeshen , minister of of Transportation and Economic Corridors.
