An Alberta doctors' group says even though a new pay deal with the province is ready to be implemented, the government isn't putting its money where its mouth is. Dr.

The City of St. Albert says changes to Alberta election rules will make voting costlier and less reliable and is asking the province to reverse its ban on vote counting machines.

"The community is very tight knit. Everyone is very close with one another, very supportive with one another. And I think, too, the schools are the hub of normality and a place of safety, a safe haven."

Two of the hikers had called Jasper Dispatch via 911 and were evacuated via helicopter from Pyramid Mountain. According to Parks Canada, the hikers claimed to be tired and unable to complete the rest of their hike.

The funding will help the Municipality of Jasper with costs related to wildfire response and to support the recovery and rebuilding process after summer wildfires destroyed nearly a third of the townsite.

"Jasper鈥檚 just starting to see the light of day from this horrific natural disaster, and then to be faced with what鈥檚 essentially a corporate disaster."

The temporary interruption will last from 9 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 19) to 7 a.m. Friday (Sept. 20).
