The Municipality of Jasper is aiming to reach its housing targets through implementing initiatives outlined in its Housing Action Plan, such as looking at densification barriers and parking requirements.

On average, the transit system served 11.7 riders per hour in 2024, exceeding the 8.3 riders per hour forecasted in Jasper鈥檚 transportation strategy and action plan.

"It's critical that we in this time support the recommendations that come from that department to ensure that they're well positioned to continue to provide protection to our community."

Council decided against the name 鈥淔ireweed Avenue鈥� due to hesitancy about including 鈥渇ire鈥� in the name.

The residential assessment took the largest hit with a 14 per cent decrease, or a loss of $164.6 million. Non-residential dropped by six per cent, or $42.4 million, and exempt properties dropped by one per cent, or $2.4 million.

"The name symbolizes the community鈥檚 resilience and recovery, making it a meaningful and fitting choice for this roadway."

The Province has forgiven $1,114,555 in 2024 education property taxes for evacuated, damaged and destroyed properties. It is also providing $1,908,000, reflecting a 90:10 contribution split between the Province and the municipality, in relief for municipal property taxes.

Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Ric McIver says all Jasper residents should be able to participate in their local democracy, regardless of circumstance.

The village would take up the first row of 21 parking stalls north of the washrooms in the Connaught Drive parking lot near the downtown core.

Residents and contractors have been pushing local officials to make more land available for in-town contractor camps, interim residences and laydown areas.
