Dear editor, Over the past few months I have witnessed several events that suggest local businesses are failing to lead by example and up hold Parks Canada’s mandate.

The Jasper Food Bank Society is not in dire straits, as was stated in last week’s issue (Bare shelves at the food bank, May 25). It is simply experiencing its natural ebb and flow of full shelves and not-so-full shelves.

The world is a meaner place since the first community garage sale in support of Mountains of Relief, the local charity replacing a school flattened by an earthquake in the mountains of Nepal two years ago.

Dear editor, This past week, I attended a mountain pine beetle (MPB) seminar in Jasper. The place was filled with scientists and forest health practitioners from across Canada, and especially from Western Canada.

It’s amazing what can happen in a matter of two weeks.

Dear editor, The Icefields Parkway is supposed to be one of the most scenic drives in the world, but as it becomes busier and busier it’s becoming more difficult to enjoy.
